Once the growing season starts within a few months the presence of aquatic plants in your fishery may be causing problems, equally they may be also enhancing your fishery and helping to maintain a healthy ecological balance. It is important when considering plant control to also consider the environmental impact of inappropriate control on your fishery
Aquatic plants are in our view best treated as friends until such time as there is overwhelming evidence that they are not.
Having decided that you have a problem with invasive plant growth, what can you do?

Get professional advice, it is however the nature of this advise that is important. Make sure that the person giving the advise is qualified to do so. Do they hold a certificate of competence in the use of aquatic herbicides ? Advice from contractors specialising in weed control may well be good advice as far as controlling the weed growth is concerned.
