A.G.A. Group UK - Nature Conservation

The A.G.A. Group specialises in an integrated approach to fisheries and aquatic management this encompasses fully the principals of all wider conservation of both an aquatic and terrestrial nature. In fact the A.G.A. Group is a leader in the field of fisheries management who acknowledges the wider responsibility to nature conservation and puts this into practice through the advise offered to clients and the practical work undertaken. The A.G.A. Group use biological monitoring to continually develop and improve its techniques. An example of this would be a project carried out between 1998 – 2000 to change the fishery use of two medium sized ponds on a SSSI in Kent. The A.G.A. Group wrote the management plan for the waters which were approved by English Nature. As part of that project the A.G.A. Group is carrying out monitoring of the dragonfly and damselfly population over a period of at least the next five years on a Free of Charge basis. In line with the commitment to nature conservation on behalf of our clients we are currently developing techniques to safeguard fisheries against otter predation, whilst ensuring that the otters re-establishment is enhanced and not threatened. Anglers have always been known as conservationists and this is still true today, however the publics perception of conservation is changing and anglers and fishery managers face many new challenges. The otter typifies one of these challenges as it re-colonises our rivers and stillwaters, and it is this re-colonisation of stillwaters by the otter that will provide a very big challenge to fishery managers over the coming years. The otter is protected by law and indeed as anglers we all welcome it back to our own particular river. We all may not be so pleased to see the otter as it makes a short excursion from its river highway to one of the many heavily stocked coarse fisheries. The otter sees these fisheries as rich pickings and gets stuck right in. Ash has been working closely with colleagues in developing strategies to protect fisheries from otter predation, so if you have a problem or get a problem give Ash a ring to arrange some help and advise from one of the few management practices in the country that are ahead of the game when it comes to otters. Remember that that all conservation management will normally benefit your fishery. The AGA Group specialise in fishery and conservation management as an integrated approach, they go hand in hand to improve your fishery |
